Cat Leather Jackets
A musical visual novel about a teenage punk rock band.

about
A game by Diana Amorim, responsible for the original concept, music, and programming, in partnership with Garoa Studios, responsible for production, publishing, narrative, QA, and marketing, and Kuating, responsible for the art.
The Project
Cat Leather Jackets was originally created and developed individually by Diana Amorim until the partnership with Garoa began. From the briefing for the preexisting characters, new themes and concepts were established, and an original narrative was created with the creator’s approval.
Game Design and Narrative Design
As a music and rhythm game, the beatmap inputs were simplified. The maps were rebuilt to adjust difficulty through playtests and feedback. Practice Mode was created, and the score and combo systems were developed together with the creator.
For the narrative, we chose a linear story without choices, closer to a kinetic novel, to focus on the themes and canonical plot. Older dialogue was rewritten and new dialogue was written to remain faithful to the creator’s original tone, present in the first version, in both English and Brazilian Portuguese.
Production and Project Management
The creator sought a partnership with Garoa Studios to finish and commercially release the title. In production, the scope was reviewed, the schedule was organized, artist Kuating was invited to create the character sprites, and music production and sound design were reviewed.
We organized playtests for quality analysis, and the project was submitted to events, fairs, showcases, and competitions, earning selections and exhibition spots. We also mediated contact with media outlets for coverage, promotion, and wishlist building.
Soundtrack on YouTube and Spotify.
